Essential Qualification WBMSC SAE Recruitment
- Sub-Assistant Engineer (Civil): Diploma in Civil Engineering from the State Council for Engineering & Technical Education or its equivalent. Candidates with higher qualifications may also apply.
- Sub-Assistant Engineer (Mechanical): Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from the State Council for Engineering & Technical Education or its equivalent. Candidates having higher qualification in Mechanical Engineering may apply.
- Sub-Assistant Engineer (Electrical): Diploma in Electrical Engineering from the State Council for Engineering & Technical Education or its equivalent. Higher qualification in the Electrical discipline is also acceptable.

Salary details WBMSC SAE Recruitment
- Basic Pay: Level 12 Rs. 35,800 – Rs. 92,100/-
- Allowances: DA, HRA, Medical Allowance & Other Benefits
Selection Process WBMSC SAE Recruitment
The selection process will consist of two stages:
Written Test (OMR-Based) – 200 Marks
- 100 objective-type questions
- Each question carries 2 marks
- Negative marking: 1 mark per wrong answer
- Duration: 1.5 hours
Personality Test / Interview – 40 Marks
- Candidates 3 times the number of vacancies will be called for interview based on merit.
Final Merit List: Based on the aggregate marks of the written test and personality test.

- UR, EWS, OBC: ?150/- plus Processing Charges ?50/- = ?200/- only (online mode)
- SC, ST, PwD (West Bengal): Processing Charges ?50/- only
- No exemption for reserved category candidates from other states
