The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has announced the Engineering Services Examination (ESE) 2026 for recruitment to approximately 474 prestigious engineering posts in various government departments. UPSC ESE Recruitment 2026 Vacancy details

Total Vacancy : 474

The Union Public Service Commission has announced approximately 474 vacancies to be filled through the ESE 2026. This includes 26 vacancies reserved for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD). The vacancies are distributed across four engineering disciplines as follows:

Category I Civil Engineering
Category II Mechanical Engineering
Category III Electrical Engineering
Category IV Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering

EssentialQualification UPSC ESE Recruitment 2026

  • A degree in Engineering from a recognized university, or
  • Passed Sections A and B of the Institution of Engineers (India) examinations, or
  • An equivalent qualification recognized by the Government.

UPSC ESE Recruitment 2026 Age Limit (as on 01/01/2026)

  • A candidate must have attained the age of 21 years and must not have attained the age of 30 years.
  • Age Relaxation is applicable as per government rules for SC/ST (up to 5 years), OBC (up to 3 years), PwBD (up to 10 years), and others.

Selection Process UPSC ESE Recruitment 2026

  1. Stage-I: Preliminary Examination (Objective Type) – 500 marks
  2. Stage-II: Main Examination (Conventional Type) – 600 marks
  3. Stage-III: Personality Test (Interview) – 200 marks

Application Fee UPSC ESE Recruitment 2026

  • Application Fee: Rs. 200/-
  • Fee Exemption: Female candidates and candidates belonging to SC/ST/PwBD categories are exempted from paying the fee.

How to apply UPSC ESE Recruitment 2026

Candidates are required to apply Online only through the UPSC website upsconline.nic.in. The new application portal involves creating an account, generating a Universal Registration Number (URN), and filling the Common Application Form (CAF) followed by the exam-specific form.
