NCL Apprentice Recruitment 2026 Notification Out
Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL), a Miniratna Company and subsidiary of Coal India Limited, has released the official notification for engagement of 1607 Apprentice Trainees for the financial year 2026-27. Eligible candidates can apply online through the NATS and NAPS portals for Graduate, Diploma, ITI Trade, and Paramedical Apprenticeship opportunities.
The apprenticeship training period will be one year, and selected candidates will receive monthly stipends as per the Apprenticeship Act, 1961.

Educational Qualification
Candidates must possess qualification from a recognized AICTE/UGC/BTE/NCVT/SCVT approved institution.
Graduate Apprentice
Relevant Engineering Degree, B.Com, BA, LLB, BCA or equivalent qualification.
Diploma Apprentice
Relevant Diploma in Engineering or specified discipline.
Trade Apprentice
10th Pass with ITI certificate in the relevant trade.
Paramedical Apprentice
Relevant Degree/Diploma with registration certificate from the concerned State Council wherever applicable.
Age Limit (As on 01 June 2026)
- Minimum Age: 18 Years
- Maximum Age: 26 Years
Age Relaxation
- SC/ST: 5 Years
- OBC (NCL): 3 Years
- PwBD: 10 Years
- SC/ST PwBD: 15 Years
- OBC PwBD: 13 Years
Eligibility Conditions
- Candidate must be an Indian citizen.
- Qualification should be obtained from institutions located in Uttar Pradesh or Madhya Pradesh.
- Candidates who passed qualifying examination before June 2022 are not eligible.
- Candidates with one year or more work experience are not eligible.
- Candidates who have already undergone apprenticeship training are not eligible.
- Higher qualification holders than the prescribed qualification are not eligible.
Selection Process
Selection will be purely merit-based.
For Graduate & Diploma Apprentices
Merit list will be prepared based on marks obtained in the qualifying Degree/Diploma examination.
For ITI Apprentices
Merit will be prepared based on the average percentage of:
- Matriculation (10th)
- ITI Trade Certificate
In case of a tie:
- Older candidate will be preferred.
- If still tied, alphabetical order of name will be considered.
