Essential Qualification BIS Scientist-‘B’ Recruitment
- Chemistry: Masters Degree in Natural Sciences (Chemistry). GATE Paper: CY.
- Civil Engineering: Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering/Technology. GATE Paper: CE.
- Computer Engineering: Bachelors Degree in Computer Engineering/Technology. GATE Paper: CS.
- Electrical Engineering: Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering/Technology. GATE Paper: EE.
- Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering: Bachelors Degree in Electronics Engineering/Technology. GATE Paper: EC.
- Environment Engineering: Bachelors Degree in Environment Engineering/Technology. GATE Paper: ES.
Note: All degrees require 60% marks (50% for SC/ST candidates) and a Valid GATE score 2023/2024/2025 in the corresponding paper mentioned above.

Selection Process BIS Scientist-‘B’ Recruitment
- Shortlisting: Based on merit order of valid GATE 2023/2024/2025 scores.
- Verification & Interview: Shortlisted candidates undergo document verification, followed by a personal interview (details communicated via email/website).
- Final Merit: Calculated based on aggregate marks (GATE Score: 85% weightage, Interview: 15% weightage).
- Post-Selection Conditions: Appointed candidates are subject to a 2-year probation period and must sign a surety bond for 3 years of service at BIS.
